1. Why are Greenbox’s boxes better than cardboard?

Cardboard boxes utilize a resource-intensive process to convert trees into cardboard. Even recycled cardboard can only be used a finite number of times, after which it becomes cardboard sludge in a landfill (sludge=bad). Greenbox boxes are durable enough for more than 500 moves, so each of our boxes saves approximately 500 cardboard boxes from being used and, eventually, sent to the landfill.

2. What ’s wrong with getting cardboard boxes from dumpsters or friends?

We are all for reusing materials, so if you don’t mind dumpster diving, going from store to store, or friend to friend, then more power to you! However, do you really want to spend your time driving around? Plus, cardboard is porous, and therefore, a strong magnet for dirt and bacteria. Greenbox’s boxes are carefully cleaned after each use and we deliver them right to your door. Clean boxes and no time and money spent driving around.

3. I’ve placed my order online. How do I know if it went through?

We will provide a confirmation phone call to confirm the time of day of your order and answer any questions, but feel free to call us anytime.

4. Do I need to be home for the delivery and pickup?

Yes. Someone over the age of 18 needs to be home to sign for the delivery and pickup, and we will gladly move the boxes to a safe location inside your home or garage.

5. Is there a delivery/pickup fee?

Delivery and pickup are free on all orders.

6. Is Greenbox a moving company?

No, Greenbox helps support your zero waste move by providing sustainable moving supplies.

7. What kinds of vehicles do you use to make deliveries/pickups of your green moving supplies?

We use diesel trucks powered by biodeisel to the extent possible (temperature can be an issue for biodiesel fuel).

8. I ran out of boxes and it’s the day before I move. Can you deliver more boxes?

Yes. If we are in your area making deliveries on the same day, then we can deliver extra boxes to you for a small delivery fee. If we are not scheduled to be in your area, then we will have to charge our full delivery fee of $35. We can figure out a solution- give us a call.

9. Do you support any other local businesses?

Yes! Greenbox has relationships with a number of local businesses and/or simply admires what they do and how they do it. Among them are Flat Fee Real Estate and One Revolution: Vermont Bikes at Work.

Flat Fee Real Estate is a local real estate brokerage with a unique philosophy on fees. If you list your home for sale with Flat Fee you pay a flat fee instead of a percentage of the sales price, potentially resulting in thousands of dollars of savings for you.  Similarly, if you are buying a home and use one of Flat Fees agents, you will receive a rebate for any portion of the fees paid the agent which exceeds $3,500 or 2% of the purchase price.  Overall, you will pay significantly less in fees and receive the same services as you would if you went with a conventional broker. Visit their website for more information: www.flatfeevt.com. If you are already a Flat Fee customer, please mention this at the time that you place your order to receive a 10% discount.

One Revolution: Vermont Bikes at Work, is a delivery company that does all of its deliveries by bicycle, including deliveries for Greenbox. So don't be surprised if your order shows up on a bicycle trailer instead of a pick-up truck. One Revolution will deliver nearly anything by bike. They currently deliver CSA shares for a number of Burlington area farms, have an innovative compost pick-up and delivery service, and their rates are extremely reasonable. Visit their website for more information: www.onevt.com.
